Beaune « Les Teurons »

Farming type

Biodynamic certificated.

Limestone soil, red, very stony, deep give a very round wine.

Winemaking

Manuel harvest. After pressing and a slight settling, the wines are aged in the cellar with 20% new oak barrels to preserve the aromatic finesse and elegance of Pinot Noir.

Tasting

And God created the wine!
Les Teurons" is part, with the Grèves, of the most prestigious climates classified in Premier Cru of Beaune. An elegant, supple Beaune 1er Cru, this impressed me hugely. My notes describe the Teurons as 'transparent'. By thus I mean that it is light, but purely in the sense of being extremely elegant, not dilute. It is as if the pure beauty of the fruit shines through with no interference from oak or ageing. A wonderful wine. "This 1er Cru has a generous bouquet with well-defined raspberry and crushed strawberry aromas with nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite compact in the mouth with a sinewy and mineral finish.
